How can you add to a city with an existing center? Through a federal RAISE grant, the Northwest Regional Planning Commission of Vermont commissioned a transit and development study to look for opportunities in the Town of St Albans, VT. With Stantec on the copy and planning side, Overhead Studio completed a study which visualizes and designs a potential block system with existing landowners and stakeholders. The town completely surrounds the existing city of St. Albans and there is a mutual relationship sharing cultural, social, and infrastructural needs between each other as well as their border with Canada merely 10 miles away. Two separate plans below describe potential development conditions infill vs. greenfield development in the two town growth centers.
